Avengers, The Digital Revolution
Growing up in India during the 90s was a classic experience. Kids didn’t have cable television, gaming consoles, iPad or multiplexes. For them, entertainment was all about reading books, comics and playing outdoors.
While Indian kids had access to local comics, few of them were also exposed the fantastic world of DC & Marvel. Batman and Captain America had fired imaginations long before they arrived on tube in India. That said, the superheroes of today are very different from the ones that the kids of the 90s read. For one thing, the world around them has evolved and so would have the saviours of the galaxy.
So, if the Avengers were to adopt today’s technologies and platforms, how would they fare? Here is a look at which social media channels would best suit the original Avengers.

Captain America – We start with the first Avenger himself. Captain was around way before the digital revolution kicked in. Having been frozen and resurrected in the now, Steve is still fond of things more traditional. Although, he would have picked up on things quickly, we believe Captain America would be fond of using SMS/Whatsapp than anything else.
Tony Stark – Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist, and what not. Iron Man has enough talent and gadgets (read bots) to master and win any platform, but we think, Elon Musk of the MCU would do best on Twitter. We can say he has left his Tinder days behind and now has a focused life with one love.
Hulk/Dr. Bruce Banner – The lovable green monster would rather smash the devices than to use them. On the other hand, Dr. Banner has enough knowledge to enlighten the whole world, and what better place for him to share his knowledge than on Quora.
Thor – God from the other world, Thor had a lot to understand about things on earth. Social Media would have been no different. But, as an intergalactic traveller, Thor could show us destinations we can only dream of going, on Instagram.
Black Widow – Her charm, wit and touch of sarcasm makes her the perfect Snapchat candidate. Opinionated but balanced in approach, her content would attract loads of engagement. With a touch of soft & mush with Dr. Banner, her feed could explode in to a trove of viral content.
Hawk Eye – When it comes to hitting the mark, Clint Barton would ace it with no difficulty. We also think that Hack Eye would hit a bull’s eye on Facebook. Throw in few live demos on archery, and we have a booming Facebook Hero.
Director Fury – The man who is driving it all! Well, he is also scouting for new talent. All of this would involve massive networking. Not just with the board, but with others too. Meetup help the Director to make all of this happen for him.
Bonus – Where do you think the diabolical mind of Loki fit in the social media universe? We believe, a mind as brilliant as Loki’s would be a rage on Reddit. Threads would come alive with his speculations and theories.
